    Happy New Year
I took a bit of a hiatus from lj cause my dear grandad died in November. He was a central figure in my life and will always be there in my heart. It's so changes everthing, the void can be overwhelming sometimes.
So.. I checked my friends list and I found Jordan, if your reading this , "happy new year". My stupid email account is not working, I have to call them tommorow, so drop me a line here. Hope your doing well.
Write a journal, so I can post my comments Jordan.

    Pumpkins
Late october, favorite time during the year. All Hallows Eve, pumpkins witches, ghost stories, anything orange, colored leaves etc..This saturday night I am having a halloween party and the place looks great with all sorts of scary decor, moving objects and creepy crawlers. Some places are booby-trapped for some unsuspecting victim/s.

Sunday night....We are hitting church street. Drop me a line if anyone out there is as excited about costumes and the like. This year I am going as a hippie chick one night and a scary ghoulish monster another night. I originally wanted to go as Martha from Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf, but I think I shall save that for another night. I am a strong believer in entertaining the "guests", performing monologues from movies(the above mentioned being my favorite) to dancing and singing(the movie,Tipping the Velvet comes to mind). Occasionally, we have wig parties...guests pick a wig, and we all take a walk down the street to the local seven eleven and make complete fools of each other. This makes for a fun night.

Hope you all have a great upcoming weekend.

    Excited about October
I am such a nerd, It's like the first day of October and three main events are highlighted like crazy. The first being Michelle Tea coming to the Gladstone on the 10th. She was scheduled to come a few months back with Clint Catalyst, but did not make it. I am so looking forward to meeting her, having her sign my books and talking with her about an upcoming movie in the works. The second big thing is P.J. Harvey coming to the Phoenix on the 15. Have not got tickets yet, but when I do It will be the third time seeing her live. The third quasi big thing is the annual Trinty College book sale on the 22-24. As a Trinity alumni, this is a great time to return to my former home.

And...let us not forget Halloween. Jen.. I am going as a hippi chick this year...dreads and all..

The past 4 weeks have been hectic to say the least. I had a great day yesterday in the Annex shopping like a fiend for books. I dare say I found some gems. Here is the list:

    - "Dojo Wisdom for Writers" (great little inspiring book)

    - Andrea Dworkins' "Heartbreak:the political memoir of a feminist militant". Sure, she's controversial-however, she's lived a hell of a life.

    - " The Mythic Journey:the meaning of myth as a guide for life".

_ An awesome book on Mucha

    - "Dessous"- a cute picture book by the Tashen company.

If anyone has some interesting reads, do pass it on to me.

So, yesterday I'm sitting on the patio at Futures trying to go back to a time when all I did was hang out there, smoke, drink coffee and write. I was trying to block out these annoying loud people, but in the end I finished my latte and decided to go home to enjoy my books/magazines.

I think they should have patios for writers only... where the staff won't bug you for like 3 hours. Hope you are all enjoying late summer.

    cheers

Getting older (it's my b-day today) does not seem to phase me yet! I don't want to speak to soon. There are three movies that speak to me and have always struck a cord...when it comes to age. All About Eve, A Streetcar named Desire, and Sunset Boulevard. Ok, I am a total film geek and I like the classics. In these films, the main character is an older woman who has a horrible time letting go of her main commodity, that being ---beauty. I am still a young chicken, however different stages of a woman's life has always appealed to me. `

I have found a great driving song. It's P.J. harveys' 9th track on her new album. Awesome soundtracky kind of song.

Ok, here goes. This is officially my first post on lj. After a bit of a hiatus from the Toronto scene of everything queer, I've decided to make a much anticipated comeback. The daily drudgery of everyday life has left me completely uninspired. Sure, post-grad life is good, however I should not have stayed away so long.
By day I am a copy editor at the University, and by night I am an aspiring screenwriter and poet. A lover of words,I find myself going off into different tangents, thinking of a million things at once and wanting to propel them onto the universe.

    .......

Music: P.J Harvey-(her new cd)...I remember coming out to myself in my student residence listening to her older stuff from 1992, and realizing I was gay. It was an experience to say the least. Her piercing sexualized voice hit me,her raw honest energy engulfed me. I was forever a fan. Her new cd sees P.J (whom I totally have a crush on ) back to her wailing days. I missed that side to her music. I remember going to see her concert a year or two ago at the Phoenix, and standing straight in front of her singing the words to each of her songs. I looked around and saw all these annoying people standing around, looking uninterested...at her concert!!!! Suffice it to say...I am glad she's back...

Hope to see some of you on Friday for the naked art auction put on by Trade magazine and its' fall launch.

Thanks yerma_thurshawt for recommending lj to me. Good to see some familiar faces.
